Product description
Author: Anna Ekielska-Mardal
Another publication from the ‘200 years of the Wilanów Museum’ series presents the collections of Far Eastern art gathered in Wilanów. This is a cross-sectional collection, bringing together all typical examples of objects of Far Eastern art – so-called export products produced especially for the European market, adapted to European tastes and fashion. This is Chinese porcelain: white and blue, blanc de Chine type, products from the pink family and green family, celadons; Japanese Imari porcelain and its imitations produced in China. Caskets and boxes decorated with lacquer, small soapstone and root carvings depicting Buddhist and Taoist saints, and colourful Cantonese enamel. Since April 2008, this collection has been presented in the restored 19th century Chinese Rooms in the southern wing of the palace. In the historic display cabinets, among the impressive wall decorations and ‘Chinese-style’ wallpapers, a rich and diverse collection delights with its colour, precision of workmanship and exotic character. The book presents the most valuable and interesting items from the Wilanów collection of Far Eastern art.
